Our Prep Day

Monday is our prep day for Entertaining Angels.  We almost didn't have a prep day.  Thank goodness it dawned on me just before we opened that we needed Mondays to prepare.  Otherwise, we would have lost our Sundays.

On Mondays we shop, clean, iron tablecloths and napkins, set tables, work in the yard, cook, and sneak off to a Bible study.  Recently, we added  a "Gathering of Gratitude:  Giving Thanks to God for Good Gifts."
We gather about 1:00 in the parlor to share our gratitude with each other and offer thanks to God.  All are welcome.

Today Victor reminded us of an old favorite chorus:
In moments like these, I sing out a song,
I sing out a love song to Jesus.
In moments like these, I sing out a song,
I sing out a love song to You.
     Singing I love you Lord!
     Singing I love you Lord!
     Singing I love you Lord!
     I love you!

We heard these words from Oswald Chambers: "We look for visions from heaven, for earthquakes and thunders of God's power, and we never dream that all the time God is in the commonplace things and people around us.  If we will do the duty that lies nearest, we shall see Him.  One of the most amazing revelations of God comes when we learn that it is in the commonplace things that the Deity of Jesus Christ is realized."

In giving thanks and counting my blessings, I am seeing God.

Day 2, Gifts:
1.  God's help with March menu
2.  Mrs. Garbutt's daffodil blooming brightly
3.  "Longing for Heaven"
4.  Betty being brave
5.  a mourning mother's beautiful faith
6.  encouraging words and hug from dear girl grown into godly, gifted woman
7.  sweet friend who understands about Mama
8.  Emily giving me hope and prayers for a changed heart
9.  sunny walk home
10. Ben and friend Joseph taking the stage

Day 2 note of thanks and prayers for recovery written on card saved too long.

I am thankful for these 100 days and for the opportunity to share them here with you.

With gratitude,
Sally

A Beginning

Today is day one of my 100 days.  100 days of giving thanks to God for good gifts and recording 10 good gifts each day.  100 days of writing at least one note of thanks to express gratitude to another person. 100 days of writing here and thus, I hope, to "continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name" and to "not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." (Hebrews13:15-16)1

10 Gifts from God:
1.  dawn on the side porch
2.  white cloud pear trees everywhere
3.  sweet scent of Japanese magnolia blossom on sunny walk home from church
4.  Tense's huge bright pink camellias
5.  Lisa's handmade banners - doilies strung together and painted to spell "Tea Party"
     and "Happy Birthday"
6.  and old friend sharing God's Word brilliantly
7.  screaming on scooter behind Andrew
8.  Francie walking to church picking flowers and sitting with me
9.  my glasses not causing plumbing problems, confessing, and being instantly forgiven
10. sitting beside Rosie at the evening service

2 notes of thanks written quickly in the choir loft and delivered.

And here we are at the beginning of my 100 days.  And God is with us.  And my heart is full of thanks.

With gratitude,
Sally
